Burns VR Training

1. Training Objective

The purpose of this training is to familiarize participants with fire extinguishing procedures for a person on fire and first aid for severe burns, following the 2021 ERC and KPP guidelines. Participants will gain hands-on experience in using different extinguishing methods, assessing burn severity, and providing appropriate care for burn victims.The training is conducted in virtual reality (VR), allowing participants to practice emergency procedures in simulated fire and rescue scenarios.

3. Training OutlinePart I: Introduction to VR (8 minutes)

Learning how to use the VR training application, including navigation and interaction in a virtual environmentFamiliarization with hand tracking technology for natural, controller-free interaction

Part II: Extinguishing a Person on Fire (25 minutes)

Fire Basics: Classification of fire typesUse of an emergency power shut-off switch

Fire Extinguishing Methods for a Person on Fire: Using a CO₂ extinguisher – application and effectivenessUsing a powder extinguisher – efficiency and potential risksUsing a fire hydrant – proper usage techniquesUsing a fire blanket – method and limitations

Practical Fire Extinguishing Simulation: Choosing the appropriate extinguishing methodApplying the selected extinguishing techniqueEvaluating the effectiveness of the intervention

Part III: First Aid for Burns (15 minutes)Assessing the Victim’s Condition:Ensuring safety for both the rescuer and the victim

Evaluating burn severity using the Rule of Nines based on ERC 2021 guidelines

Identifying signs of hypovolemic shock

First Aid Procedures (KPP Guidelines):Removing clothing and jewelry from the burned areaCooling the burn (time and methods based on burn size)Applying hydrogel dressings or sterile dry dressings when hydrogels are unavailableAvoiding the use of oils, fats, or home remedies on burns

VR Simulation: First Aid for Severe Burns

Assessing the victim’s conditionApplying the appropriate dressingResponding to signs of shockThis training combines realistic fire hazard simulations with first aid for severe burns.

Using VR technology, participants gain practical experience and learn to react effectively in emergency situations, following the latest ERC 2021 and KPP 2021 standards.
