Civil Defense: Emergency Shelters
Civil Defense: Emergency Shelters VR is an educational virtual reality application that uses VR technology and hand tracking to teach users how to recognize and correctly use protective facilities in emergency situations.
The experience begins in an urban environment, where an air raid alert prompts the user to access the gdziesieukryc.pl platform to locate the nearest place of protection. The user is then transported to three types of protective facilities: a Shelter, a Temporary Shelter, and a Temporary Place of Refuge (MDS). At each location, users learn to recognize the official signage, understand the purpose and level of protection provided by each facility, and perform simple, intuitive hand-tracking interactions, such as operating a virtual smartphone and opening a shelter door.
The application is based on the current Polish civil protection regulations and the guidelines of the State Fire Service and the Government Centre for Security. The experience concludes with an interactive summary of the key information and encourages users to explore the real locations of protective facilities through the gdziesieukryc.pl platform.
